Why You Should Think Twice About Canned Foods →
Your canned soup habit could relate to your heart attack risk, according to the findings of a recent study looking at the chemical bisphenol A’s (BPA’s) impact on cardiovascular health. In the latest study, researchers discovered that BPA—a chemical ubiquitous in the environment and found in the liner of most canned foods—overrode the female body’s natural heartbeat signaling...

Under-eating
If your mind is made up, I know there’s no use in telling you not to under-eat.. Believe me, I know it’s not that simple. But what I don’t understand is why some girls (and guys) do double damage by making their few daily calories empty ones. Why not ditch the soda, frozen foods, sweets, etc.. and eat some fruits and vegetables?!

Anonymous asked: Hello! Do you know if it's true that carrots are a "zero calorie" snack?
Anonymous asked: What do you think about canned vegetables? Like canned corn, peas, carrots, etc with just water in them and no added salt/sugar. Cause I just ate like a whole can of corn, haha.

You know what's strange (and saddening)?
That the most unhealthy eaters I know are those people closest to me. It’s insulting how they completely ignore everything I say and do, as if out of spite.
Oh well, we must accept that some people are just too stuck in their ways to even consider making a change.
But what you feed yourself is one thing.. it takes all of my strength to keep my mouth shut when I see what ‘food’...

From Feast to Fat: Living in a World of Plenty →
If you follow my Facebook page, you might have seen my friend Shelby post this awesome link. In an entertaining way, the author tells the story of how our eating habits have changed, and the effect this has had on rates of obesity and disease. It really puts things into perspective and shows just how silly (and dangerous) it is that we eat so much and so often. Those of you with weight loss and...

I do not do promo 4 promo. In my opinion, you shouldn’t need to do promos. If you have a wonderful blog, people will notice and follow you. Internet followers shouldn’t even be your biggest concern. Your blog should be a place to express yourself, not a popularity tool.
I could not agree more.

Your 'Natural' Orange Juice Actually Contains a... →
A friend (RevDeniquePR on Twitter!) tweeted me this alarming article about orange juice. Apparently after it is squeezed, the juice sits in a storage container for up to a year. Before being packaged, a chemical cocktail known as a “flavor pack” is added to give it a distinct orange juice taste.. but you’ll never see this on the label.
If you...

Like when did you start caring about animal’s welfare!
LOL @ the GIF. But seriously, shouldn’t we be feeding our animals the food they’re designed to eat? Should a carnivorous dog really be eating plants? Just a thought…

ginastylinsonxx asked: I used to drink so much water, and lately I just don't get that thirsty so I completely forget to drink water. I drink some almond milk every morning and that's it- no soda/soft drinks, fruit juice, or anything. I always tell myself that today I'll drink more water but honestly, I just forget because I'm not thirsty. Any advice?

one thing that annoys me is when I’m browsing peoples profiles, doesn’t matter what website, but one of the first things they say about themselves is that they are vegetarian. umm… I didn’t realize your eating habits were that special that you had to broadcast it so suddenly? same thing with people who are vegan. I’ve never seen people who eat both meat & vegetables, etc. who do this.....

I’ve been reading a lot about this lately, and thought it important that we spread the information around to our friends and family. (I think the easiest strategy would be to toss your microwave completely, but I know that isn’t easy for anyone ha!)

beautythatmoves asked: Hi Shelby! Do you have any tips for being sugar free? That is my biggest vice at the moment and it doesn't help that I am surrounded by donuts all day at work! The need for sugar in my head always overpowers my vegan ideals! Help!!

seekeroflight asked: Hey Shelby! First and foremost, I would like to say I really love your blog. It's so informative! I've been a vegan for about a year and a half, and I'm moving towards eating gluten free. I've been switching out some of my normal grains for gluten free ones, and I even found brown rice couscous! I tried making pancakes, but they didn't turn out too well. How did you get...
