1. yogabikini asked: Hello! Can I ask what juicer you use? I'm trying to decide on one and I'm having a hard time. Thanks for your time!

Hey there! I have a Champion Household Model. It’s not cheap, but it works wonderfully and you can even make banana icecream (with the Blank attachment)

  3. Anonymous asked: do you eat at least 1200 calories a day? the minimum amount a person should get?

There is no real minimum amount that a person should eat, though I find that I feel best when I eat between 1100-1700 (depending on how active I am that day). I eat when I’m hungry and I use a program every now and then to make sure I’m meeting all of my nutritional requirements. I’m also a fan of intermittent fasting: “reducing food intake to approximately 500 calories per fasting day (twice a week) yields optimal effects and can significantly improve long-term cognitive function.”

  7. Anonymous asked: Do you have any tips for dry skin and acne marks? Thank you!

First and foremost, I would ditch all skin products and up your water intake. Maybe record your diet for a week and see where you fall short nutritionally. Perhaps you need to increase certain vitamin, mineral or fat levels. 9 times out of 10, your skin is a direct reflection of your inner health, so this step cannot be overlooked!

As for a topical solution, I would recommend almond oil or coconut oil with added Vitamin E, or aloe vera if your skin is especially sensitive/painful (very soothing!). Acne marks can be treated with tea tree oil or lemon juice.. just make sure to run a q-tip under the water faucet before you dip it into the above liquid. Straight from the bottle, both tea tree oil and lemon juice are very strong and can irritate/burn your skin, which can exacerbate your dry skin issue.

  8. A year ago, this month…

I wrote my very first blog post! It’s been a year full of change, as I transitioned from vegan to raw vegan last summer, introduced green smoothies into my diet and became familiar with new fruits and vegetables. I’ve gotten to know so many great people in the Tumblr community, who continue to inspire me every day.

Coincidentally enough, on this “anniversary” I find myself in a similar position as I was in this time last year (though with considerably more knowledge!).  Last fall, when I slipped up on my diet, it served as the catalyst for a seemingly endless roller coaster of successes and failures as I tried to get back to raw. Overcoming cravings proved to be twice as hard the second time around, and I’ve been struggling to find a way to get back on the wagon… and STAY there!

When I made enormous changes to my diet and lifestyle last year, I used this blog as a way to keep me on track and to connect with like-minded people going through similar lifestyle changes. I really believe that Tumblr was pivotal to my success. So again, I look to y’all for advice and inspiration… for conversation and ideas and recipes and laughs! And I’ll be tracking my progress just like I did the last time around: daily eats, how I’m feeling, supplements and products I’m trying out, and more.

Anyway, IT’S BEEN AN AWESOME YEAR. I’m going to browse through some of my old entries now, especially a June post titled “How I Deal With Cravings”. Who knew that my own words would help me out all these months later?! 8-)

  9. bubbles3 asked: Do you use a probiotic? What do you wash your face with?

Yes, I do! Right now I’m using Garden of Life brand probiotics. As for my face, I just use water. I’ve also used raw, unprocessed honey.. it’s antibacterial and moisturizing, and it doesn’t have any of the unhealthy ingredients found in traditional face-wash.

Came across this while studying for my astrobiology test. How interesting!
